Calderdale Services for Families

Research tells us that if conflict between parents is frequent, intense and poorly resolved it can have a negative effect on their child’s emotional, social and cognitive development. This can happen whether parents are living together or apart.

In Calderdale we are determined to support families in conflict and we provide online and face to face training to our local services on how to help.

We also know that parents try hard to do the best for their children, many in challenging circumstances and it often works best if people can get help before the problems become too big so …

You will find below:

  • Information about the Early Help Advice Service can help families who would like further support or advice.
  • The Calderdale Family Services Directory setting out the full range of early help services to support parents with the care of their children both locally nationally.
  • Information if you are concerned about the safety of a child or believe there is domestic abuse taking place.

However, we also have a free, specialist face-to-face course called Family Transitions for parents who are separated.

We also have an online course aimed specifically at relationships between parents and their teenage children

If You Are Concerned About Safety

The safety and welfare of children – also known as safeguarding – is everyone’s business. You could be a parent, relative, neighbour, friend, childminder, or you may work for any organisation which has contact with children and young people such as teacher or doctor.

Safeguarding means helping children to grow up into confident, healthy and happy adults. It also means protecting children from physical, emotional, sexual abuse and neglect. Most children generally enjoy a happy childhood experience within their own family.
